South Mile Delivery is seeking 3 dependable cargo van drivers and 1 standby cargo van driver for a short-term delivery project supporting Walmart locations in Knoxville, Tennessee during Thanksgiving week (11/25, 11/26, 11/28, 11/29).

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced independent contractors with cargo vans to earn quick project-based income.

Ideal candidates will have a strong background in delivery driving, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to handle physical tasks associated with loading and unloading cargo.

Project Description and Locations 
Drivers will pick up from Walmart stores at 8:00 AM each day and run until deliveries are completed (estimated 8 hours). This is a 4-day project only, but drivers who exceed performance expectations will be considered for future opportunities in our ongoing contractor pool.

All routes run on 11/25, 11/26, 11/28, and 11/29

Duties

• Safely operate cargo vans and pick up items at the assigned store location at 8:00 AM.
• Ensure accurate loading of cargo to prevent damage during transit.
• Deliver Walmart goods to various locations using the logistics app (must have a smartphone to receive text instructions), adhering to route schedules and safety protocols.
• Provide excellent customer service by engaging professionally with recipients during deliveries.

Skills

• Proven experience as a delivery driver, courier, or similar role involving route driving.
• Strong knowledge of commercial driving regulations and safe driving practices.
• Experience operating cargo vans, or similar vehicles.
• Ability to handle heavy lifting and physical tasks related to moving packages.
• Excellent customer service skills with professional communication abilities.
• Familiarity with route planning, load & unload processes, and safety standards during transportation.
• Valid TN driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Requirements

• Cargo van only (no sedans, no SUVs, no small transits).
• State-minimum insurance required.
• Valid driver’s license and current registration.
• Must be able to send your vehicle VIN for verification (we require validation that each driver is operating a cargo van).
• Must have a smartphone and the ability to receive a text invite to access route information in the logistics app.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and able to complete the full route each assigned day.

Compensation

• Flat rate: $250/day per van
• Paid as 1099 Independent Contractor
